Gene Hackman and Denzel Washington star in this action thriller directed by Tony Scott. Veteran commanding officer Frank Ramsey (Hackman) and his new executive officer Ron Hunter (Washington) are the chief officers aboard the USS Alabama nuclear submarine.

They have been sent to Russia to potentially intervene in an escalating conflict but when they receive orders to launch their missiles, they clash over the validity of the command and mutiny ensues.
