Robert Wise directs this sci-fi thriller based on the novel by Michael Crichton. After a satellite crashes near a small town in New Mexico, the residents quickly begin to die, with only an alcoholic man and a young baby surviving. The government sends a team of scientists to investigate, fearing that the satellite has brought something alien back to Earth.

They discover a highly dangerous organism which they name Andromeda and when it escapes containment they are caught in a desperate race against time to prevent the destruction of all life on Earth.
