John Carpenter directs this horror thriller starring Sam Neill and Jürgen Prochnow. Horror writer Sutter Cane (Prochnow), whose ghoulish novels have driven his readers to insanity, disappears, and his publisher Jackson Harglow (Charlton Heston) sends insurance investigator John Trent (Neill) to locate him. However, as Trent gets closer to the author, he finds that the boundaries between reality and fiction are rapidly blurring.
