The original "Scream" trilogy, directed by Wes Craven, is a seminal work in the slasher horror genre that redefined the landscape of horror films in the late 1990s. Blending sharp, self-aware humor with intense suspense and unexpected plot twists, the trilogy stands out for its clever deconstruction of classic horror tropes while delivering genuine scares.

Scream (1996):
In the town of Woodsboro, a masked killer known as Ghostface begins a murder spree, targeting teenager Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell). As the killer terrorizes her and her friends, they try to survive by following horror movie "rules." The film revitalized the slasher genre with its meta-commentary on horror tropes.

Scream 2 (1997):
A year later, Sidney and fellow survivor Randy are in college when a new series of murders, inspired by the movie "Stab," begins. Sidney and Dewey (David Arquette) team up to figure out the killer's identity while navigating the perils of a horror sequel.

Scream 3 (2000):
The trilogy concludes with the production of "Stab 3" being interrupted by new murders. Sidney, Gale (Courteney Cox), and Dewey return to uncover the identity of the killer, facing the dark secrets linking all the murders.
