When a US Army plane carrying a biological weapon crashes in the hills surrounding the town of Evans City in Pennsylvania, the town's water supply becomes contaminated and infects the residents with a terrible virus.

With the virus causing the infected to become deranged and violent, soldiers are brought in to try and contain the situation as a group of civilians do all they can to try and get out of the town alive.
