Danny Boyle directs this thriller starring Cillian Murphy. As animal activists storm a laboratory with a plan of releasing the animals, a frantic scientist tries to stop them freeing chimpanzees that have been infected with a deadly virus, but they ignore him. When a chimp attacks one of the activists, infecting her with the virus, she becomes a zombie-like creature and attacks everyone else in sight.

28 days later, Jim (Murphy) awakens from a coma to find the whole of London deserted. As he learns from two other survivors - Selena and Mark (Naomie Harris and Noah Huntley) - of the devastation caused by the release of the virus, the trio put their heads together to try to figure out how to save the rest of mankind.
