Gene Hackman stars in this neo-noir thriller directed by Arthur Penn. Los Angeles-based private investigator Harry Moseby (Hackman) is hired by ageing actress Arlene Iverson (Janet Ward) to find her missing 16-year-old daughter Delly (Melanie Griffith). His investigation takes him from Hollywood to the Florida Keys and in the process he becomes embroiled in a conspiracy involving smuggling and murder.
