Robert Z. Leonard directs this American musical starring Judy Garland, Van Johnson and Buster Keaton. Veronica (Garland) and Andrew (Johnson) are a pair of strangers both writing to romantic pen pals, oblivious to the true identity of their respective readers.

One day, a chance encounter between them leads to Veronica taking up work in a music store alongside Andrew, but their rivalry prevents them from forming a connection. However, things may be about to change when they discover who they have been writing to all along...
