The film follows Nick Wells (De Niro), a seasoned and meticulous thief planning to retire from his criminal career. However, he's lured back for one last job—a complex and high-stakes heist to steal a priceless French scepter.

Nick teams up with a young, ambitious thief, Jack Teller (Norton), but as the heist unfolds, trust issues and hidden agendas emerge, leading to a tense and unpredictable climax.
