Kate Cooper (Daisy Edgar-Jones), a former storm chaser who had a traumatic experience with a devastating tornado during her college years and now safely in New York analyzes storm patterns on screens.

She is lured back to the open plains by her boyfriend Javi to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. There she meets Tyler Owens (Glenn Powell), the charming and overconfident social media superstar who chases tornadoes with his rather clumsy teammates and enjoys posting his adventures online: the more dangerous the better.

As the storm season intensifies, ominous, never-before-seen weather phenomena arise. Kate, Tyler and their competing teams find themselves right in the path of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma and will be in the fight of their lives.
