Most famous for his role as the stoic Ogami Itto in the legendary Lone Wolf and Cub series, Tomisaburo Wakayama shows a completely different side in the riotous martial arts comedy series Wicked Priest, where a Buddhist monk with a taste for women, booze and brawls dispenses justice with his fists instead of sermons.

Across five action-packed adventures, the roguish Shinkai battles corrupt priests, yakuza gangs, pirate revolutionaries and his relentless rival Ryotatsu (Bunta Sugawara), blending outrageous comedy with explosive martial arts action.

This collection includes brand new restorations of all five films in the series:

  • Wicked Priest (1968)
  • Wicked Priest 2: Ballad of Murder (1968)
  • Wicked Priest 3: A Killer's Pilgrimage (1969)
  • Wicked Priest 4: The Killer Priest Comes Back (1970)
  • Wicked Priest 5: Blood on the Commandments (1971)

Packed with hard-hitting fight scenes, bawdy humor and Tomisaburo Wakayama's charismatic performance, the Wicked Priest series remains one of the great cult action comedies of late-1960s Japanese cinema.
